Syria's information ministry said foreign journalists illegally inside the country should report to the government on Tuesday, hours after bombardment of a rebel neighbourhood in Homs killed two foreign journalists smuggled into Syria.

"The ministry asks all foreign journalists that have entered Syria illegally to go to the nearest centre for immigration and passports to resolve the situation according to the laws in force," the ministry said in a statement on Syria TV.

Syrian state television has shown pictures of thousands of pro-government demonstrators on the streets in the city of Sweida in the country's southwest.

A woman who became a symbol of the uprising after reports she was killed in custody has appeared alive on Syrian state TV.

Rights groups said they "regret any inaccuracy in the misidentification" of the body of Zaynab al-Hosni, 18, that was found in a morgue with her head and extremities cut off after vanishing from her home in the city of Homs in July.

REUTERS - Muammar Gaddafi urged Libyans not to give up to those he said were colonising the North African country, the Syrian channel Arrai reported on Monday in a message read out by the channel's owner.

"We were due today or last night to have televised speech of the leader of fighters but for security reasons the appearance of this televised message has been postponed," Mishan Jabouri said before reading out the message.

"It was meant to show the leader between his fighters and people leading the struggle from Libyan lands, and not from Venezuela or Niger or anywhere else," he said.

Syrian TV airs an interview with President Assad right now - you can watch it on Al Jazeera.

The information ministry said earlier that the interview would be broadcast live.
