Al Jazeera's İdil Güngör, reporting from the Kilis refugee camp in Turkey, says clashes between Syrian government forces and opposition fighters could be heard across the border on Tuesday.

Some of the bullets even reached the camp, but Turkish authorities insisted the Syrian army had not targeted the camp, saying the bullets were stray bullets.

About 200 new refugees came to the camp on Tuesday. Seven of them were injured and are now being treated in hospitals.

The refugees are not allowed to leave the camp for shopping or other errands in nearby cities, except with  government permission and on special buses.

Shots fired by Syrian forces early on Wednesday hit a Syrian refugee camp just across the border with Turkey, Turkish media reported.

CNN-Turk showed images of automatic rifle fire towards Turkish territory from a border surveillance building flying the Syrian flag near Kilis in southeastern Turkey.

Several television stations reported that troops had fired at Syrians trying to cross no man's land on the frontier to seek refuge in Turkey from the violence rocking Syria.

Bullets hit a nearby camp of prefabricated buildings without wounding anyone but causing panic among the refugee population.

Shootings from the Syrian side of the border into Turkey have wounded two Syrians and a Turkish translator, diplomatic sources told the AFP news agency.
"Two Syrians and a Turkish translator were wounded this morning by shootings coming from the Syrian side of the border," said sources.
The incident occurred near the Kilis border refugee camp in Turkey's southern Gaziantep province.
"After this incident the Syrian Charge d'Affaires in Ankara was called and we demanded an end to this," a Turkish foreign ministry official told the Reuters news agency.
Mohammad Abdelqader, a refugee in the camp who said he had witnessed the shootings, told Reuters two Syrians had been killed and two more had been wounded in the attack.

Reuters could not immediately confirm that report.

Earlier the British-based opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported fierce clashes between Syrian security forces and opposition fighters close to a border crossing between the Syrian town of Azaz and the Turkish town of Kilis.

Activists in Kilis, Turkey are staging a two-day hunger strike near the border with Syria to protest the Syrian government's refusal to allow them entry to deliver aid and medical supplies for victims of the deadly crackdown on dissidents.

Moayed Skaif, a member of the ``Freedom Convoy'' said Friday group members are refusing food in a bid to protest Syria and to force Turkey into pressuring Syrian authorities into allowing the aid.

The activists - mostly Syrians who traveled from the United States and elsewhere - have set up tents in a makeshift campsite some 15km from the border after Syria denied them and their aid entry.
