Reports indicate that the Occupy protest in Oakland, California, will be raided for a third time.

According to the Bay Citizen, which has a report based on information from "police and city officials with direct knowledge of the plans", the Oakland Police Department (OPD) will be cracking down around 4am local time.

The OPD will likely be aided by "700-to-1,000 officers from numerous agencies", which would duplicate OPD's record of bringing in non-Oakland police to quell protests.

In this operation, those officers could be deployed for three full days, according to the Bay Citizen report.

The report also indicates that policing costs associated with the Occupy Oakland encampment could reach up to $5m.

Interestingly, the Oakland school board has recently decided to shutter five schools starting next fall, with the goal of saving just $2m.
